Thank You 22 – Audacity
I am thankful for Audacity. While its not the easiest piece of software to figure out, it is relatively easy to use and it is free. It is the audio editing application that I use to record and put together my podcasts.

Thank You 21 – Coffee
Coffee – the love of my mornings and late nights. I’m thankful that somewhere in the past someone discovered how to dry and roast coffee beans. I’m not a coffee-holic, but I’m among the many for whom a hot mug of good coffee starts the day off right.

Scheduling and Recording Glitch
For the next few days, there will be two thank you’s posted each day. Due to some problems with recording – cedar fever affecting my voice, a family birthday, and neighborhood noise that was audible where I record – I wasn’t able to record the podcast episodes for January 21 – 24 until today. So even though the posts were ready, I didn’t publish them.
Thank you for your patience. I promise there will be 365 thank yous here by the end of the year!

Thank You 20 – USPS
A lot of people complain about the U.S. Postal Service, probably because most of what they get in their mail box is bills, but for less than a dollar, the USPS delivers letters and cards all across the nation – directly to our door or mailbox. For relatively minimal cost, they guarantee 3-5 day delivery of packages and flat rate packages whose shipping is based on the size of the box, not the weight.

Thank You 19 – Grocery Stores
Why am I thankful for grocery stores? I don’t have to grow my own produce, butcher my own meats, or travel great distances to get variety in my diet. I can get beverages, cleaning products, magazines and seafood all in one place.

Thank You 18 – Google
Google search, Gmail, Google Reader, Analytics – and many more applications. How many of them do you use? How often? I use them everyday. They may not be perfect, but I get a lot more out of them than I pay for them.

Thank You 17 – Siblings
Siblings – we love them and hate them at the same time. Some siblings we are born with, some become our brothers and sisters when two families blend, and some we chose to call family because they are the brothers and sisters of our hearts and souls. Argue though we do, when things get bad, our siblings are there for us.

Thank You 16 – Twitter
When I first started using Twitter, I thought it was going to be a fun little internet toy to play with occasionally. It has proved to me much more. Just in the first two weeks of 2010 news about friends and events has come through on Twitter before I saw it anywhere else. Twitter also creates a sense of community that sometimes is absent on the web.

Thank You 15 – Wells Fargo Mortgage
2009 was a difficult year for me financially – as it was for many people. My mortgage company, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, made it a little easier by making the loan modification process easy for me.

Thank You 14 – Basic Brewing Radio
Basic Brewing Radio, hosted by James Spencer, has been both entertaining and educational as I’ve learned the craft of homebrewing. The show consists of interviews, experiments and the results of James’ own brewing and brewing related efforts. James is a wonderful host and makes it feel like he’s talking with you.
